Bastion Steward Birthday Party

This is my environment project from Ashleigh Warner's CGMA Creating Stylized Game Assets Class!
This was the longest project of the class, spanning 5 weeks. I would have liked to spend more time working on this to add some final touches, but here's 5 weeks of work from concept to final screenshots!

My inspiration for this environment is of course the wonderful Stewards found in Bastion, from the Shadowlands in World of Warcraft. Seeing as they have small/child forms, that means they must be born, and therefore have a birthday! A celebration of growth and prosperity for the Shadowlands' most honorable beings. (in my opinion, anyways!)

All models were created in Maya, and everything was completely textured in a combo of 3DCoat and Photoshop. Most objects are diffuse only, with some having just a black and white mask for roughness/metal. In the case of the tiles, I created a normal map with Substance Alchemist only for the use of the iridescent effect, but it's not attached to the base material itself. I also painted the particle textures for the sparklies in the air, and the flames on the birthday candles.

Super big, amazing thanks to Ashleigh Warner and everyone in my class for the endless feedback, along with my husband Jesse and lovely co-workers and friends for their inputs as well.
